Providing a boat, licensed guide, life vests, fishing rods, lures, bait, snacks, sodas and bottled water. All our trips are private and Trolling for trout only! Time is 3 hours long and a 10 person max provides everything you will need. Everything except anyone 16 years of age or older that is planning on fishing needs to have a fishing license. Fishing licenses can be purchased at Holloways Marina prior to the trip.
Trolling for Trout
There are 2 Scotty downriggers on each boat so we do not use lead core line. Using a 3 foot boom, some cable and a 8lb lead fish looking weight. This allows us to clip our fishing lines to the 8lb lead fish weight and cable. Lowering the downrigger to depths from 1-30 feet below the water surface where the trout like to swim.. Then when the trout bites the lure or bait the fish pulls the line of the clip. Then it's just you and the fish. With an aditional 2 lines on the surface called flatliners. Trolling around Big Bear Lake with 6 lines in the water at one time.
Lures, Fishing Rods, and Line
Using a wide variety of lures from spoons, rapala’s, flies and bait. Our St. Croix fishing rods are 7 feet long ultra light rods. Our reels are made by Shimano and hold 10lb monofiliment line for backing supporting a 6lb fluorocarbon leader. Primarily looking for schools of trout but an ocasionally a smallmouth bass, largemouth bass or crappie will bite our line.
